Trump Media reports $405 million quarterly loss primarily due to cryptocurrency investments

(SeaPRwire) – The Trump family’s media company reported a net loss of $405.9 million in the first quarter, primarily due to unrealized losses from its cryptocurrency holdings.
Trump Media & Technology Group Corp., parent company of Truth Social, released its first-quarter 2026 results on Friday, showing positive operating cash flow of $17.9 million and $2.1 billion in financial assets—triple the amount from the same period last year.
However, the firm’s decision to invest in cryptocurrencies at last summer’s market peak led to hundreds of millions in losses this quarter. Nearly $370 million of the total loss stemmed from unrealized liabilities tied to digital assets and equities.
Trump Media currently holds more than 9,500 Bitcoin in its treasury, having acquired the digital assets last July at an average price of $108,519, according to CoinGecko. The company sold 2,000 Bitcoin in late February, when the cryptocurrency was trading just below $70,000.
