The $1.6B Ether Bleed: Why BlackRock’s Exit Strategy Matters More Than The Price

(SeaPRwire) –

The numbers are ugly. US spot Bitcoin ETFs bled $398.6 million on November 2. But the real story isn’t the daily dip. It’s the structural retreat happening in the ether funds. BlackRock is pulling back hard. This isn’t just market noise. It’s a capital flight pattern that needs a hard look.

Let’s look at the data. BlackRock’s IBIT lost $405.3 million in one day. That single outflow wiped out the total net withdrawals for all US Bitcoin ETFs that day. Fidelity’s FBTC only gained $6.7 million. The other ten funds were flat. Meanwhile, ether ETFs saw $139.7 million leave. That was their sixth straight day of losses.

The subtext is clear. Institutional investors are de-risking. October saw $515 million in Bitcoin outflows. Ether funds lost a record $1.61 billion that same month. This followed a $6.3 billion hack on Binance on October 29. The market is treating this as a systemic security shock. They are not betting on rebound potential. They are protecting principal.

We still have $98 billion in Bitcoin ETF assets. The ether funds hold about $13.2 billion. A $139.7 million drop hurts ether more. It eats into nearly 1% of their total value. That is a significant signal. It shows ether is less resilient to panic selling. The smart money is choosing cash over collateral right now.
