The 2026 Fortune Most Powerful Women list has been released—and 11 CFOs are among its honorees

(SeaPRwire) – The 2026 Fortune Most Powerful Women list was unveiled this morning. The women featured on this global roster lead 94 companies, collectively employing 11.8 million individuals and generating $7.3 trillion in annual revenue.
Taking the top position is Citigroup chair and CEO Jane Fraser, marking the first change at No. 1 since 2024. Fraser made history in 2021 as the first woman to head a major U.S. bank, and under her leadership, Citi’s stock has surged by over 90% since her appointment, with nearly 80% of that growth occurring in the last 12 months. She was ranked No. 3 on the 2025 list. Further details about Fraser can be found in a dedicated feature.
Collectively, the women recognized on this year’s MPW list hold 180 board seats and operate across 20 countries and territories. Following the U.S., China has the second-highest number of honorees with nine, while France and the U.K. each have six. Fortune editors evaluated each candidate using the criteria outlined in the methodology.
Fraser’s prominent ranking highlights the significant influence of the finance sector on this year’s list, alongside technology. Notably, 11 of the 100 women honored are finance chiefs:
