Spanish police arrest Mango founder’s son, sole witness in cliff fall death

(SeaPRwire) – On Tuesday, police in northeastern Spain arrested Jonathan Andic, the son of Isak Andic, the billionaire founder of Spanish fashion brand Mango, on suspicion of involvement in his father’s death.
Isak Andic, 71, fell approximately 150 meters (about 500 feet) from a cliff while hiking with his son near Barcelona in December 2024 and died as a result. His son, Jonathan Andic, 45, was the sole witness to the incident.
Following the initial investigation by authorities, which was closed a few weeks later, the case was reopened in March 2025. By October, police had confirmed that his death was being treated as a possible homicide.
Jonathan Andic was transported to court facilities in Martorell, an eastern Spanish city where the proceedings are ongoing, according to a spokesperson for the Catalan regional police force, Mossos d’Esquadra, who requested anonymity in keeping with department protocol.
The case remains under a nondisclosure order, the spokesperson added.
Jonathan Andic is the eldest of Isak Andic’s three children and one of his primary heirs. He also serves as vice chairman of the board at Mango, one of Spain’s largest retail companies.
Born in Turkey, Isak Andic moved his family to Spain during his youth. In 1984, he launched Mango’s first store in Barcelona and subsequently led the company’s expansion into one of Europe’s leading fast-fashion brands over the following decades.
Mango operates 2,900 stores across 120 markets worldwide. The group achieved record revenue of nearly 3.8 billion euros (approximately $4.4 billion) in 2025, marking an 11% increase compared to the previous year.
