Pentagon starts releasing new UFO files, urges public to draw their own conclusions

(SeaPRwire) – The Pentagon has started releasing new files on UFOs, inviting the public to form their own conclusions about “unidentified anomalous phenomena.”
This initiative is jointly overseen by the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Energy, NASA, and the FBI.
On Friday, the Pentagon posted on X that unlike previous administrations that sought to discredit or discourage public inquiry, President Donald Trump “is committed to maximum transparency, allowing the public to draw their own conclusions from the information in these documents.” The Pentagon added that more materials would be released gradually over time.
Since February, Republican President Trump had been hinting at this announcement. Earlier, he had made public records related to the assassinations of former Presidents John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., though those releases contained little new information beyond what was already known.
The Pentagon has been working to declassify UFO-related documents for several years, and Congress established a dedicated office in 2022 to facilitate such disclosures. Its inaugural report in 2024 highlighted hundreds of newly documented UAP incidents but concluded there was no evidence the U.S. government had ever confirmed sightings of alien technology.
In 2022, Congress mandated that the Pentagon begin releasing decades-old files on UFO sightings after military personnel reported encounters with unexplained aerial objects.
A small number of Republican lawmakers have pushed for greater openness, accusing the Pentagon of withholding key documents. In March, Representative Anna Paulina Luna sent a letter demanding the release of 46 UAP videos identified by whistleblowers. On social media Friday, she indicated those videos are slated for inclusion in a future Pentagon disclosure.
Representative Tim Burchett expressed gratitude to Trump for “keeping his word” on transparency and disclosure.
“I want to remind everyone that full transparency won’t happen overnight—it will take time,” Burchett stated.
Experts caution against drawing hasty conclusions from the new files, warning that UAP footage is frequently misinterpreted or inaccurately labeled by those without expertise in advanced military systems. The Pentagon’s 2024 report rejected claims that the U.S. government possesses recovered alien technology or has confirmed evidence of extraterrestrial life.
