Conan O’Brien to Host the 2025 Academy Awards

NEW YORK — Following comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s hosting duties last year, the Academy Awards have selected another prominent television comedian, Conan O’Brien, to emcee their upcoming ceremony.

“Responding to popular demand – Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme is now available. Also, I’ll be hosting the Oscars,” O’Brien announced in a statement on Friday.

This will be O’Brien’s first time hosting the Oscars, although he has previously hosted other major award shows, including the Emmy Awards in 2002 and 2006, and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 1995 and 2013.

The Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC on March 2, 2025.

O’Brien is widely recognized for hosting the late-night talk shows “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” and “Conan.” Prior to his television hosting career, he worked as a writer for “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons.”

O’Brien joins a distinguished group of previous Oscar hosts, including Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Hugh Jackman, and Neil Patrick Harris.

“He joins an impressive lineup of comedic icons who have held this position, and we are thrilled to have him take center stage for the Oscars,” commented Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group.
