Stellar & XRPL Reunite After 10 Years—Native XLM Settlement on XRPL Is More Than a PR Trick

The 10-year rift between Stellar and XRPL just got a bridge—without the bridge. Xora Finance now lets native XLM settle directly on XRPL, no wrapped tokens or third-party middlemen. These two networks share roots in fast payment infrastructure but split ways in 2014. This move isn’t just a technical fix; it’s a nod to their shared past and a bet on future collaboration.

Stellar’s numbers tell a story of growth despite token price pressure. It hit 11.1 million daily transactions recently. In one week, stablecoin holdings jumped by $112 million—12.1% growth. XLM trades near $0.16, but short-term selling hasn’t dented network activity. MoneyGram even launched its MGUSD stablecoin on Stellar, doubling down on its role in remittances.

XRPL’s payment push got a regulatory boost. Girin Card secured FinCEN MSB registration, allowing compliant XRP and RLUSD payments via its self-custody card. Launched in March with Visa, it plans to reach over 130 million merchants in 150 countries. The registration paves the way for banking partnerships, turning crypto into everyday spending.

This integration isn’t just about two tokens talking. It’s a play against the fragility of cross-chain bridges—many have been hacked. By cutting out middlemen, Stellar and XRPL reduce risk for users. Institutional players are taking note: MoneyGram’s stablecoin launch shows trust in Stellar’s payment rails, and Girin’s registration adds legitimacy to XRPL’s real-world use.

XRPL’s 3.3.0 update is more than code cleanup. It retires five old amendments, including Clawback, but keeps their functionality. RippleX engineer Mayukha Vadari says, “Retiring an amendment means removing the pre-amendment code… This is purely a codebase cleanup and won’t affect any users.” Six new amendments wait for 80% validator approval, signaling XRPL’s push to add features like ConfidentialTransfer without breaking existing systems.

Stellar and XRPL’s direct link will force other payment-focused blockchains to either build similar native integrations or fade into irrelevance.
