Authentic Needs, Profound Evolution: Innovation Driven by Core Challenges
“How can we effectively cater to such diverse user requirements?” Zheng Songzhi’s opening inquiry prompted a moment of contemplation among the audience. He then shared revelations from over a year of comprehensive user research conducted by Chery’s product teams across nations including Indonesia, Mexico, and Thailand. From this extensive study, they pinpointed nine frequent family-use scenarios: daily commuting, material transport, camping and angling, dating and shopping, outdoor athletics, extended journeys, urban excursions, suburban retreats, and family camping. Nevertheless, as Zheng Songzhi highlighted, no currently available vehicle model on the market genuinely satisfies the varied and intricate demands arising from all these situations.

At the launch gathering, three user co-creation officers hailing from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Mexico articulated their straightforward automotive aspirations: comfort for their kin, equilibrium between work and life, and ample room for personal expression. While their priorities diverged, each narrative was equally heartfelt and impactful.

These genuine voices served as the bedrock for Chery’s 7-Seat Transformable Multi-SUV. As Zheng Songzhi underscored during his address: “It is these authentic user insights that propel us to consistently pioneer new solutions.” User requirements are not merely a fount of inspiration—they constitute the fundamental catalyst behind Chery’s strategic pivot from a “function-centric” approach to one that is “scenario-driven.”
One Vehicle, Six Formations: Adapting to Every Aspect of Life
Responding to consumer calls for versatility, spaciousness, and robust performance, Chery has introduced the pioneering “6=1” philosophy: by flexibly rearranging seats and detaching the rear hatch, a single vehicle morphs into six distinct internal and external configurations—catering to 99% of family mobility situations. The overarching aim is to forge a “mobile sanctuary” that embodies familial warmth, individual aspirations, and the liberty to explore. On stage, Chery ingeniously revealed three of these configurations—the world’s first 7-Seat Transformable Multi-SUV—through a vibrant combination of VFX and an immersive light presentation.
In its “Large 7-Seat SUV Mode,” the vehicle elevates the essence of a portable “home”: Boasting an overall length of 4.9 meters and an interior cabin height of 1,284 mm, even a six-year-old child can stand fully upright inside, while elderly occupants can enter and exit without needing to stoop—providing true comfort for the entire family.
When professional duties or leisure pursuits beckon, the vehicle instantly converts into “Double-Cab Pickup Mode” via a cleverly engineered quick-release mechanism. The truck bed offers 600 liters of cargo capacity, complete with four tie-down points and adjustable dividers to securely transport everything from surfboards and camping shelters to floral arrangements and building materials—effectively resolving the age-old predicament of balancing passengers with payload.
For those with a yearning for the open road, the “Camper Mode” bestows both freedom and capability. The vehicle supports a rich array of accessories—including side awnings, pop-up roof tents, rear-seat entertainment displays, and external power supply. Equipped with off-road prowess, it is designed to facilitate deeper exploration, unhindered enjoyment, and a safe return.
Zheng Songzhi affirmed that Chery intends to roll out supplementary transformable modes and official accessory packages, continuously extending the vehicle’s functional capabilities.
Co-Creation with Users: Charting Limitless Potential
Beyond the unveiling of a novel vehicle, this concept launch ushers in an innovative collaborative framework that spans the entire product development continuum. Prior to mass production, Chery will extend an invitation to users globally to engage extensively in the co-creation journey—from defining features and fine-tuning the powertrain to naming the model and customizing its ecosystem. User contributions will directly shape the final product.
Since February 2024, a specialized team of 20 product experts has dedicated over 300 days to conducting intensive field research across numerous international markets. Through this concerted effort, they compiled 1,350 user data points and more than 40,000 feedback entries, ensuring the product concept remains profoundly rooted in authentic-world needs. By initiating a global co-creation program at the conference, Chery is signaling a clear departure from conventional closed-door R&D. As Zheng Songzhi articulated, “Propelled by the genuine demands of our users, we have not only reshaped the typology of the SUV but will also partner with them to jointly develop and determine its future.”
This global co-creation initiative not only underscores Chery’s technological prowess but also demonstrates the dynamism and robustness of its worldwide user community. In collaboration with users, Chery is advancing towards a more visionary and tailored future of mobility. The new vehicle is anticipated for consumer availability in the third quarter of 2026. With this groundbreaking product, developed through worldwide user input, Chery will convey a potent declaration to the world: the future of mobility will be collectively shaped, not solely by manufacturers, but in partnership with their clientele.
