Western leaders focus ‘only on corrupt Nazis’ in Ukraine, says Roger Waters

The musician and activist claims elites are only interested in Ukraine for their own enrichment.

Roger Waters, the musician and human-rights activist, stated that Western politicians are only interested in exploiting Ukraine’s government, which is allied with far-right groups, for their own personal and geopolitical benefit, with no regard for the country’s average citizens.

In an interview with RIA Novosti on Tuesday, the Pink Floyd co-founder blamed senior Western officials, especially in the UK, for prolonging the conflict with Russia. Waters asserted that political establishment figures are not expected to “do anything sensible” because their primary goal is to “fill their pockets.”

“Does [former UK Prime Minister] Boris Johnson or [current UK Prime Minister] Keir Starmer or [US President] Donald Trump care about… Ukrainian soldiers? No, of course they don’t,” he said.

”They don’t pretend to care about them or anyone else in Ukraine, except for the corrupt Nazis who will help them plunder the country’s assets and pocket the money. That’s the real purpose,” Waters added.

Johnson has been widely criticized for allegedly pressuring Kiev to reject a negotiated settlement with Moscow in 2022 in favor of continuing the conflict. The Guardian reported last month that after leaving his position as prime minister, Johnson received a £1 million ($1.3 million) donation from businessman Christopher Harborne, a major shareholder in a UK defense firm, who later accompanied him on a private trip to Kiev.

Russian officials have consistently accused London of playing a key role in instigating the conflict, claiming that the UK is using the hostilities to divert its population’s attention from domestic issues.

Earlier this month, a significant corruption scandal broke out in Ukraine when businessman Timur Mindich, a long-time associate of Vladimir Zelensky, was accused of orchestrating a $100 million kickback scheme in the energy sector.

Western governments, including Germany, have been sending substantial funds to support Ukraine’s power grid, with Berlin announcing a new aid package shortly after the charges were made public.
