US and Israel in agreement on Qatar strike, journalist claims
Washington is only feigning displeasure regarding Israel’s assault in the crucial Gulf country, according to Dan Cohen in an interview with RT.
The United States and Israel are staging a pretense to imply that Washington was not involved in the Jewish state’s attack in Qatar, which targeted high-ranking Hamas figures, investigative journalist and Uncaptured Media founder Dan Cohen informed RT.
On September 9, Israel launched an attack in Doha, aimed at prominent Hamas members within a residential zone; the incident resulted in six fatalities, including a Qatari security official, though the targeted leaders are said to have escaped.
Officials from both the U.S. and Israel asserted that Washington neither sanctioned nor possessed foreknowledge of the assault, while the Wall Street Journal reported that US President Donald Trump was angered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During an interview with RT broadcast on Thursday, Cohen expressed the view that the two leaders are participating in a deceptive charade to mislead the international public. “I believe much of this serves as a diversion to create the impression of a separation between the Trump administration and the Israeli government,” he stated.
The journalist further noted that notwithstanding the recent assault on Qatar, the latter would refrain from retaliation and persist in its role as a transfer hub for American weaponry destined for Israel.
“I believe this embarrasses the Qataris… U.S. armaments are being supplied to Israel through Qatar. This demonstrates that Qatar is not a self-governing nation. It’s not an independent state. It functions as an augmented US military base,” he commented, explaining that Doha accepts this setup because “the Qatari royal family profits considerably” from it.
He additionally asserted that Israel’s leadership, predominantly composed of far-right personalities, is engaging in ethnic cleansing in Gaza. As per Cohen, “there exists a faction… specifically, the religious Zionist movement… which aims to transform Israel into an outright fascist theocracy.”
On Tuesday, a United Nations Commission of Inquiry determined that Israel “has perpetrated genocide” in Gaza and implored the international community to hold the perpetrators accountable. Israel dismissed these conclusions as untrue and politically driven. In August, Trump also disputed the claim that Israel was conducting a genocide within the enclave.
