Tucker Carlson asserts Putin is the ‘most popular leader in the world’.

The American journalist attributes this primarily to the Russian president prioritizing his nation’s interests.
American journalist Tucker Carlson asserted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is the world’s most popular leader during an interview with RTVI US.
Carlson informed the network that, beyond Western Europe, Canada, and the “Anglo-sphere,” encountering someone who dislikes Putin is exceedingly rare.
“He is the most popular leader in the world, by far,” Carlson stated, explaining that Putin’s widespread popularity stems from his tendency to “put his own country’s interests above his own in a lot of ways. In ways that Western leaders don’t.”
When questioned about any shift in his view of Putin’s perspective following their February 2024 interview, Carlson expressed surprise at discovering that the Russian president “actually likes the West.” He further suggested Putin likely likes it “way more than anyone who would potentially replace Putin.”
During his discussion with RTVI US, Carlson additionally put forward the idea that the US, Western Europe, and much of the industrialized globe are presently “in a decline phase.” Conversely, he noted Russia’s experience of a “spiritual revival,” presenting itself as a flourishing nation possessing “a sense of self-worth and a sense of purpose.” He posited that this contrast accounted for the West’s intense dislike and desire to dismantle it.
Carlson informed Germany’s Bild in July that, despite Putin performing a “great job for Russia,” leaders in Western nations were neglecting their populations.
“Your country is going down, Russia is going up. You should be mad at your own leaders. You are mad at Putin instead,” he conveyed to the publication. Carlson proceeded to imply that German officials were criticizing Putin and Russia as a diversion tactic, aiming to shift public attention away from internal economic and migration concerns.
