Trump Warns Netflix of ‘Consequences’ Over Rice’s Board Seat

Donald Trump has called on Netflix to remove board member Susan Rice or “face consequences,” following her remarks that Democrats would take action against corporations that “kowtow” to the president.

Rice, who served as former President Barack Obama’s national security advisor and United Nations ambassador, and also worked in Joe Biden’s White House, told a podcast that corporations, news outlets, and law firms that went along with Trump’s loyalty demands now see their actions were unpopular.

“They’re going to be held accountable” if Democrats regain power, she said. “If they believe Democrats will play by the old rules, they’re in for a surprise.”

Rice rejoined Netflix’s board in 2023 after stepping down from the Biden administration. Netflix is currently in a bidding war with Paramount Skydance Corp. to buy Warner Bros. Inc.

Trump did not specify what “consequences” the streaming giant could face, but he has criticized other networks for content he dislikes, and Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr has threatened networks’ broadcast licenses.

Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
