To date, at least 81 individuals have been apprehended. CNN Brasil further reported that two wounded suspects are currently held at Penha Hospital. Roughly 2,500 police personnel participated in the operation overall.
Authorities in Rio de Janeiro routinely carry out raids in favelas to combat organized crime. Nevertheless, the current operation stands as the deadliest in the city’s history.
