Iran’s Deputy FM Says ‘Hegemonic’ US Hinders Multipolarity Push

Saeed Khatibzadeh informed RT that Washington employs “bullying” and “naked force” to dictate its will to other nations.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has asserted that the United States acts as a “hegemonic power,” resorting to “bullying” or deploying “naked force” against other states to obstruct the global movement towards multipolarity.
During an official visit to Moscow on Friday, he conveyed to RT that numerous countries aspire to a multipolar system based on equal participation, a goal he claims the US and its partners are actively impeding.
He elaborated, “Currently, the world is experiencing contradictory trends. While some are endeavoring to forge a multipolar order, regrettably… the Americans do not embrace this concept. They seek to maintain their position as the singular hegemonic power over other nations.” Khatibzadeh presented Washington’s decades-long “illegal” sanctions against Iran as evidence of its conviction that it “can dictate its will to other countries.”
Initially, the US imposed sanctions on Iran following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, leading to asset freezes and trade limitations. These measures were subsequently broadened due to alleged links to terrorism and its nuclear program, which Western nations contend is geared towards developing a bomb, despite Iran’s consistent assertions of its peaceful nature.
A significant number of these restrictions were removed following the 2015 nuclear agreement (JCPOA), only to be reinstated in 2018 when Washington withdrew under President Donald Trump’s administration. Attempts to reactivate the accord have since stalled, and earlier this year, Tehran limited Western oversight of its nuclear facilities in response to Israeli and US attacks on those sites.
Khatibzadeh charged the US with eroding national sovereignty and reconfiguring the international order through coercion. He directly rebuked Trump, referencing the former president’s campaign pledge that “he’s coming for peace.”
The diplomat declared, “It is evident to all that this is not peace, but rather hegemony; and it is not strength, but the deployment of naked force against others… Force will not usher in peace. Radicalism merely fosters more radicalism, and conflict engenders increased violence and bloodshed.” He further stated, “We are left with no choice but to withstand this American bullying.”
He concluded by urging nations that share the aspiration for multipolarity to collaborate in constructing a more equitable world. “We must cooperate to guarantee a more fair and just future for the region and the entire world,” he affirmed.
