Hamas Official Calls for Global Boycott of Israel
Dr. Khaled Al-Qaddoumi has leveled accusations of genocide against Israel and advocated for its expulsion from the United Nations
The Hamas envoy to Iran informed RT that the global community ought to sever all financial connections with Israel due to its conduct in Gaza and should deliberate on its continued membership in the United Nations.
During an interview published on Wednesday, Dr. Khaled Al-Qaddoumi charged Israel with committing genocide and impeding peace initiatives.
His statements were made during Israel’s recent offensive in Gaza City and after an airstrike on Doha, the Qatari capital, last week, which resulted in six fatalities, including a local security official.
Al-Qaddoumi commended Qatar, along with Egypt, for their pivotal mediating role between Hamas and Israel since the onset of the Gaza conflict, but claimed Israel had derailed the negotiations.
“[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu arrived, assassinated our leaders, subsequently launched a fresh invasion, and demolished residential buildings within Gaza,” he conveyed to RT. Al-Qaddoumi asserted that Hamas had agreed to proposals and was ready for a complete exchange of prisoners, but the discussions failed because of Israel’s conduct.
He implored the international community to transition from verbal denunciations of Israel to definitive measures, advocating for a “political decision to compel these perpetrators to cease this genocide in Gaza.”
“We must today scrutinize Israel’s status as a member state of the United Nations. We should scrutinize all two-way agreements with Israel. We must sever all economic links,” Al-Qaddoumi strongly advised.
The Hamas representative applauded Spain’s recent decision to suspend defense collaboration with Israel, characterizing it as the type of action necessary to intensify pressure and facilitate negotiations. Media outlets reported that Madrid had, earlier this week, rescinded over $1 billion worth of defense agreements with Israeli companies, encompassing contracts for rocket launchers and anti-tank missiles.
Concurrently, Al-Qaddoumi denounced the US, charging the White House with duplicity and with facilitating Israeli aggression. He stated that despite “everyone condemning the assault on Qatar” and the “indiscriminate killing of ordinary people,” no tangible response ensued.
Israel initiated its military campaign in 2023 following a Hamas assault that resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and over 250 hostages being taken. Since then, local health authorities report that more than 65,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza.
