(SeaPRwire) –   By: Lucas Caldwell
This summer, millions of teens are earning online, and Gen Alpha is emerging as a highly entrepreneurial digital – era generation. A Cash App whitepaper reveals around 22 million 13 – 17 – year – olds earn through part – time, informal, or digital work. About 10% livestream games, 16% do online reselling, and 10% use in – game platforms like Roblox. They’re capitalizing on hobbies and managing multiple income streams.
The whitepaper notes that for many teens, their first income is non – traditional, entering the economy early through activities seen as recreational by previous generations. Gen Alpha tweens, growing up on MrBeast videos, are more interested in digital careers than traditional jobs. Block’s Christine Kahm says the one – employer, one – paycheck model is foreign to them.
Gen Alpha is an economic force in unconventional entrepreneurship. A 2025 DKC report shows they’ve surpassed $100 billion in annual direct spending power. Around 91% are working or making money, and they’re on track to reach $5.46 trillion in spending power by 2029. A 2025 Whop report says over 30% of 12 – 15 – year – olds want to be YouTubers, and 21% aim for TikTok creator careers.
Gen Alpha is drawn to content – creator gigs. Nearly a quarter have been contacted by brands for sponsorships, and 30% would consider making money through YouTube or TikTok partnerships. They see YouTubers achieving success without a traditional career path, making these careers seem achievable. However, some still pursue traditional jobs like nursing, teaching, and athletics.
The rise of Gen Alpha in the digital work sphere is reshaping the job market. Traditional employment models may need to adapt to attract this new generation. As they gain more spending power, their career choices will have a significant impact on various industries.
Gen Alpha will continue to drive innovation in the digital job market, forcing industries to adjust to their preferences and skills.
