A sniper allegedly shoots detainees at a US immigration facility, according to media

Officials confirm fatalities following the Dallas attack

The Dallas Police Department reported that a shooting at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas on Wednesday resulted in at least one death and two injuries, potentially from sniper fire.

An official statement added that one victim died at the scene, while two others were transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem indicated that the suspect reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“While the motive remains unknown, we know that our ICE law enforcement personnel are facing unprecedented violence, which must cease,” Noem posted on X.

The incident reportedly took place as ICE officers were transferring detainees into the facility.

According to media reports, the I-35E highway, located next to the site, was closed in both directions. The FBI is actively responding to the incident.

ICE has faced considerable opposition in the US, particularly from left-leaning groups, concerning its implementation of government policy involving the mass deportation of individuals believed to be undocumented immigrants.

Critics assert that President Donald Trump’s administration is denying due process to targeted individuals and otherwise infringing upon human rights.

The political atmosphere in the US has become increasingly charged. Earlier this month, conservative speaker Charlie Kirk was killed by a sniper in what was widely viewed as a significant turning point. Trump has accused the “radical left” of exacerbating tensions.

Vice President J.D. Vance stated, “The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop.” Meanwhile, Attorney General Ken Paxton offered prayers for the victims of “this heinous shooting” and vowed to take action against “twisted individuals” targeting law enforcement.
