WeStart 2025 Entrepreneurial Investment Conference Launches in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Sept. 23, 2025 — The WeStart 2025 Entrepreneurial Investment Conference commenced in Shanghai on September 21, serving as a prominent component of the 18th Pujiang Innovation Forum.

Under the theme “Innovate Forward & Build Together,” the conference established a multi-layered, international, and highly effective investment-financing platform. This was achieved through a singular conference, competition, and exhibition, aiming to bring together worldwide innovation resources to foster high-quality expansion for technology companies.

The WeStart community in Shanghai focuses on leading-edge technology entrepreneurs, providing an accessible talent service platform designed to address requirements for investment in disruptive innovation, incubation, and overall development throughout Shanghai.

During the forum, participants from both China and abroad explored the principles of capital empowerment across the entire scientific and technological innovation spectrum. The “WeStart early-stage & small-scale investment alliance,” conceived by the Ministry of Science and Technology, was officially inaugurated. This alliance, co-established by prominent investment firms, central enterprises, and ecosystem collaborators, utilizes the WeStart TOP 100 startup competition to connect premier capital and industrial assets, thereby expediting the translation of early-stage scientific and technological breakthroughs.

Throughout the two-day period, these startup showcase and matching events formed a comprehensive innovation service system, encompassing technology transfer, achievement commercialization, and venture capital. This offered a high-caliber platform for global innovation components to gather and interact.

The WeStart TOP 100 startup competition attracted 1,487 teams from around the world, representing four cutting-edge sectors: biomedicine, integrated circuits, AI, and future industries. This included 71 international projects. Following the preliminary phase, 100 superior projects progressed to roadshows, vying for the TOP 100 distinctions.

Leveraging its role as a vital center for international interaction, Shanghai organized the WeStart cross-border sci-tech project matchmaking session. More than 30 technology projects from 9 countries — including the U.S., Canada, the UK, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, South Korea, Malaysia, and Pakistan — engaged in dynamic discussions with local investors. These initiatives covered areas such as AI+ enterprise services, digital healthcare, clean technology & sustainable energy, fintech, marketing & e-commerce, and edtech.
