The 2025 Ordos Annual Conference on Media Convergence Development Nears Its Start, Highlighting Practical Global Achievements

ORDOS, China, Sept. 29, 2025 — The 2025 Ordos Annual Conference on Media Convergence Development is scheduled to take place in Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, from October 12 to 14.

This conference is designed to foster the exchange of practical successes in media convergence, critically examine obstacles to its progress, and formulate strategies for its future advancement.

Operating under the theme “Systematic Reform of Mainstream Media in the Digital Intelligence Era,” the conference will convene delegates from government bodies, media entities, businesses, industry groups, and academic institutions in Ordos, known as the “Warm City.” Embracing a philosophy of “content + technology + inspiration + aesthetics,” the gathering will leverage “convergence” to forge agreement on developmental paths, boldly address cultural responsibilities, and capitalize on evolving opportunities. Its objectives include expediting the profound integration of artificial intelligence with media in the mobile internet landscape, stimulating the intelligent evolution of the media sector, invigorating the high-quality systematic reform of mainstream media, offering robust backing for media convergence initiatives, and significantly expanding media’s reach and impact.

Those visiting this hospitable city in Inner Mongolia will discover a dynamic environment: the joyous sounds of the “Farmers’ Harvest Festival” continue to echo across its landscapes, significant projects are generating favorable outcomes for the industrial economy, and the cultural and tourism industries are fully primed and anticipate the arrival of the 2025 Ordos Annual Conference on Media Convergence Development.

Crucial projects are exhibiting substantial progress. The Zhuozheng methanol-acetic acid project, involving a total investment of 59 billion yuan (approximately $8.27 billion), is advancing consistently. The Baofeng coal-to-olefins project, recognized as the world’s largest single-site facility of its type, has begun operations. Longi’s high-efficiency photovoltaic module project, with an annual capacity of 5GW, was finalized and achieved full production merely 13 months after its inception. Furthermore, the “National Uranium No. 1” demonstration project by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) in Ordos has successfully yielded its initial uranium output. These flagship initiatives are generating an “archipelago effect,” thereby establishing a robust groundwork for Ordos’ ambitious objective to develop four world-class industries.

During the first half of this year, Ordos registered a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 290.07 billion yuan (approximately $40.68 billion). When computed at constant prices, this indicates a year-on-year expansion of 6.0%, which exceeds the national average growth rate of 5.3%.

A comprehensive analysis highlights a resilient economic framework: the primary industry’s added value amounted to 1.82 billion yuan (approximately $255.3 million), marking a 6.2% year-on-year rise and signifying a firmer base for agricultural and pastoral growth; the secondary industry’s added value reached 204.9 billion yuan (approximately $28.74 billion), expanding by 7.4% year-on-year, underscoring the industrial sector’s continuous strong impetus; and the tertiary industry’s added value stood at 83.34 billion yuan (approximately $11.69 billion), increasing by 3.4% year-on-year, thus emphasizing the service sector’s adaptability.

These statistics not only reflect enhanced performance and efficiency within specific industries but also reveal the fundamental rationale of structural refinement and synchronized development.

In 2025, Ordos initiated 50 new major projects, establishing a comprehensive development plan worth 1.3 trillion yuan (approximately $185.71 billion). These undertakings encompass crucial areas such as energy and industrial modernization, transport and infrastructure, environmental preservation, cultural tourism, alongside enhancements to public welfare and urban revitalization – showcasing the city’s integrated strategy for transformation and advancement, often referred to as the “Ordos Path.”

Adopting the “major project planning initiative” as a strategic blueprint, Ordos consistently hones its industrial framework. This method allows the city not only to establish precise goals and progress steadily towards them but also to flexibly adjust to changing conditions, investigate novel avenues, and capitalize on nascent opportunities. The city is bolstering its established advantageous industries, fortifying specialized sectors, expanding strategic nascent industries, and nurturing those poised for the future. Concurrently, it is furthering ecological, fundamental, and social welfare projects in a synchronized fashion, fostering the progressive development of a contemporary industrial system defined by diverse growth and multi-layered backing – transitioning from piecemeal expansion models to an integrated, value-chain-driven development paradigm.

By July, 428 major projects throughout the city had recommenced construction and production, with total investments finalized at 95.62 billion yuan (approximately $136.60 billion), signifying an investment completion rate of 53.3%. Across construction locales characterized by soaring cranes, workshops alive with the hum of machinery, and interwoven power grids, one can distinctly perceive the enduring impetus of a robust and expanding industrial economy, the consistent recuperation of fixed asset investment, the reinvigorated vitality of the consumer sector, and the sustained increment in residents’ earnings.

“Ordos, affectionately known as the ‘Warm City’, stands prepared, exuding confidence in its swift advancements, to host the 2025 Ordos Annual Conference on Media Convergence Development!”
