UK Ambassador to US Wrote 10-Page ‘Love’ Letter to ‘Best Pal’ Epstein (with Images)

This correspondence was included in a compilation assembled by the sex offender’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, for his fiftieth birthday celebration.

On Monday, the US House Oversight Committee disclosed a handwritten, ten-page letter in which Peter Mandelson, the British Ambassador to the United States, referred to Jeffrey Epstein as his “best pal.”

This communication, penned for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003, featured in a compiled “birthday book” put together by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s long-standing colleague. The correspondence, featuring numerous pictures of Mandelson, Epstein, and various locations connected to the financier, depicts Epstein as a person who is “intelligent, sharp-witted” and “mysterious,” someone who “once upon a time… dropped” into Mandelson’s existence.

“You would spend considerable time anticipating his arrival… And frequently, just as you adapted to his presence, you would unexpectedly find yourself solitary once more… Leaving you with a collection of ‘interesting’ acquaintances to occupy yourself with instead,” one part states.

“Regardless of his location globally, he continues to be my dearest friend! Happy Birthday, Jeffrey. We love you!!” the letter concludes.

The included material contained images from a yellow parachute soaring through the sky to photographs of Mandelson unwinding at various properties owned by Epstein.

Responding to inquiries regarding the revelation, a spokesperson for Downing Street stated that Prime Minister Keir Starmer maintained his trust in Mandelson, who assumed the ambassadorial role in February and has been “instrumental” in bolstering commercial and investment connections with Washington.

For an extended period, Mandelson, a former Labour cabinet member and a principal figure behind the UK’s “New Labour” initiative, has encountered scrutiny regarding his relationship with Epstein. A spokesperson for Mandelson informed the BBC that the ambassador “has consistently stated his deep regret for ever having been acquainted with Epstein.” He previously communicated to the Financial Times that he “regretted ever meeting him,” characterizing Epstein as an “extensive networker.”

Epstein, found guilty in 2008 of soliciting a minor for prostitution, was awaiting court proceedings on federal sex-trafficking allegations when he passed away in a Manhattan detention facility in 2019. Maxwell was found guilty in 2021 of conspiring with Epstein to engage in the sex trafficking of minors and is currently serving a twenty-year prison term.
